While Arkansas officials counted $63.2 million on Friday in revenue they weren't expecting by September's end — mostly from personal income taxes — a Mountain Home woman suggests the state cut the gasoline tax if just only for a month or two to give wary consumers a break.
- Baxter Regional's ambulance service continues upgrading
When Baxter General started its ambulance service in 1974, the first run was in a red and white funeral home hearse.
- Jurors not needed today
The Baxter County Circuit Court jury panel need not report today as previously scheduled, according to Rhonda Porter, Circuit Clerk. The next reporting date for the panel is 9 a.m. Oct. 13.
- Property transactions
The following warranty deeds, representing transactions of real property, were filed with the Baxter County Clerk's office Sept. 25-Oct. 1, 2008. The value listed for each transaction is derived from the tax stamps affixed to each instrument.
- Mountain Home District Court
District Court for the city of Mountain Home was Sept. 23, 2008, before Judge Van Gearhart. Of the 58 cases against 40 defendants, 46 were for various traffic violations, three were for contempt, two were for possessing a controlled substance, one was an alcohol-related offense, one was for criminal mischief, one was for disorderly conduct, one was for fleeing and one was for resisting arrest. Imposition of sentence was suspended for two defendants. There were 11 defendants sentenced to jail time. Those cases are reported here:

Of the 10 cases against five defendants, eight were for various traffic violations and one was for a hot-check violation. Imposition of sentence was suspended for one defendant.
